Terms of Use
Effective October 15, 2026
These terms apply to the Rittiers app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro and Apple TV, and to this website. Rittiers is made by Thom Ritterfeld (see the imprint). By using the app or the website you agree to these terms.
The app
You get the app through Apple's App Store, so Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies. If these terms and Apple's agreement conflict, Apple's agreement wins.
Your routes
The GPX files and routes you add stay yours. They are stored on your devices and in your own iCloud account; see the privacy policy for what the route analysis and generation features send to our server. You are responsible for having the right to use the files you import.
Ride with your own eyes
Climbs, gradients, surfaces, cobbled sectors, turn instructions and arrival times are derived from map data (largely OpenStreetMap) and from weather forecasts. All of it can be out of date, incomplete or simply wrong: a road may have been resurfaced, closed, made one-way or washed away since the map was drawn. Generated routes are suggestions, not vetted itineraries, and may include roads unsuitable or unsafe for your activity.
Rittiers is a planning and tracking aid, not a navigation system and not a substitute for your own judgement. Watch the road, obey traffic law and signs, and decide for yourself whether a road is safe to ride. Do not operate the app while riding in a way that distracts you.
Availability
The app is provided as it is. Features may change over time. Route analysis, route generation and editing depend on a server we run and on third-party data, and iCloud sync, weather, Health and map display depend on services run by Apple and others; none of these are guaranteed to be available, and they may be changed or discontinued.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are only liable for breach of essential obligations, limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. Mandatory statutory liability remains unaffected.
Law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
